PREFACE
This directory is meant to expedite communication on environmental
issues. It includes non-profit organizations, governmental entities, and other public
environmental groups. Businesses whose principal focus is the environment are not included
because of their ready access in the yellow pages of the telephone directory.
While the directory is meant to be comprehensive, it is inevitable that
some groups may be missed. A form has been provided at the back of the directory to obtain
information to make the directory current, accurate and inclusive. Future editions will
reflect the information submitted on these forms.
This directory was initially published in 1995 as a cooperative project
of the Hamilton County Environmental Action Commission and the National Association of
Professional Environmental Communicators. This edition (sixth printing) is made possible
by the Hamilton County Environmental Action Commission in cooperation with the Ohio River
Valley Water Sanitation Commission.
The Hamilton County Environmental Action Commission (HCEAC) was created
in December 1991 by Donald R. Schregardus, Director of the Ohio Environmental Protection
Agency (OEPA), in response to agency and public concern about reported amounts of toxic
materials being released into the Hamilton County environment.
The mission of the HCEAC is to identify and examine existing or
potential environmental problems; recommend strategies to improve the Countys
environmental quality; and promote cooperative and expeditious adoption of credible
programs in the public, private and political sectors that reduce risk to human health and
the environment, both now and in the future, while supporting and advancing the social,
economic, and educational development of the County.
